Villari's Martial Arts teaches the art of Shaolin Kempo Karate which was developed by Great Grandmaster Frederick J. Villari. Grandmaster Villari found that the arts of Shaolin Kung Fu, Kempo, and Karate each had a unique strength in one or more areas, but also had a significant weakness that could leave an individual vulnerable. He found that by combining the best aspects of these 3 unique arts that an individual can become a very balanced, well rounded Martial Artist that is able to defend him or herself against a variety of opponents and situations should the need arise.
We understand that effective Self Defense for all ages is as much a matter of confidence as it is about physical technique. That is why we use positive reinforcement techniques and goal setting at all levels to help our students develop a strong personal self-image as they realize their physical capabilities. Adults, teens, and children who exude strength are rarely victims, but should an assault, a run in with peer pressure, or other situation occur, students will have the knowledge, the strength, and the confidence to react effectively and protect themselves.

Our Facility
Villari's of West Hartford has many features which will allow you to experience the benefits of the martial arts in a clean, safe environment. The plaza we are in offers plenty of well lit parking with easy access from New Britain Avenue.
While students are training, friends and family can watch class through our large windows in our lobby area. There is plenty of seating, and the lobby is enclosed so that students will not be distracted while you are watching.
On the Dojo floor, we utilize a variety of training equipment to build our student's physical abilities. We have WaveMaster Heavy Bags for the development of strong leg and hand techniques, Kick Shields for developing kicks with a partner or an instructor, Target Pads for developing strong hand-eye coordination, and Century Blockers which we use for blocking.
All these features will help ensure that you and/or your child have the best experience possible when coming your lessons.

Grandmaster Villari has accomplished much with a minimum of publicity. 10,000 Black Belts and 15 million students after its conception, Villari's Martial Arts Centers are now a far cry from the days when Fred Villari taught two students at seven in the morning in a walk-

up studio in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Grandmaster Villari realized that the ultimate in self-defense lay not in one way or style of fighting. By combining the "Four Ways of Fighting." he devised and developed ways to integrate diverse methods of fighting into one, eliminating weaknesses and vulnerabilities. This is the central theory and method behind Villari's art of Shaolin Kempo Karate.

The backbone of the Villari's style is the Shaolin system since he felt it was the best for promoting overall good health, wisdom and longevity. This system is well balanced, incorporating mind, body and spirit into one.

This method has spread throughout the world as more than 500 schools have been opened that teach his method.

Grandmaster Villari is still actively teaching and demonstrating the martial arts in his schools today.
